It’s easy to get caught up in our comfort zones. We’re afraid of stepping outside the box we’ve become accustomed to in fear of the unpredictable. We’re afraid of change. Change may appear overwhelming and difficult at first, but change can be a good thing. Sometimes, that uncomfortable feeling is exactly what we want. That feeling might be just what we need to remind us we’re on the direct path to growth. Letting go of the negative and replacing it with the positive will have a powerful effect on your life. Whether you realize it or not, we can choose how we think. Positive or negative, we have the option to spin a situation into a direction of our choosing. If we consistently put ourselves into negative situations that leave us feeling uneasy and, ultimately, unhappy, how can we ever expect to have a different outcome? Eventually, people get tired of creating a storm everywhere they go. A person with a healthy mindset learns from their experiences and chooses to grow from them rather than letting them control their life.
All the different ideas, thoughts, and experiences to which we are exposed throughout our lives shape our mind. The way we digest and think about the thoughts we feed our mind is key. It’s extremely difficult to be the only positive person in the room. If you constantly surround yourself with negativity, eventually you can’t help but take all that negative and begin to wear it. Surround yourself with positive, you can’t help but be positive. Keeping a healthy mindset takes work. It requires surrounding yourself with others that are healthy and just as motivated as you. Sticking with others that are goal-oriented will aid in keeping you on a direct path to success. Those that have a truly healthy mindset always keep those that are unhealthy at bay as protecting their health and wellness is always of top priority.
BE STILL
The chaos surrounding us can become so loud it’s deafening. The more chaos we have surrounding our lives, the harder it is to think. When we find the sounds around us so loud they’re distracting, we find ourselves unable to move forward, it’s time to stop, take a moment, and find another way.
We all have our own way of winding down. Some find calm in journaling while others find their way through music. Breathing exercises and working out are also great methods to help calm your mind. Find your center and take the time to be still. Take the moment in and let it go. Fill your mind with positive thoughts and find a direction to move in and there you will head. Sometimes, you just need to be still for a minute so you can think long enough to find your way. Overthinking and worrying about insignificant details makes it difficult to see the situation as it really is, therefore, the ability to be still and center yourself will allow you to take a step back, bringing awareness, calm and clarity to both your situation and your thoughts.
FIND YOUR CENTER
Our bodies feel and react to every thought that flashes through our mind. Like a waterfall, when we have a thought, that thought flows straight down to our body below. Our body then reacts to that input accordingly. Thinking of our mindset as more of a piece of food we eat might help us to be more aware of what we feed our bodies. Everything we hear, read, and see along with all the thoughts and experiences we have associated with each piece of data is creating strong walls made of either concrete or easily destructible walls made of straw. We determine the data we allow inside. We choose to build a strong or weak mind. The healthier and stronger our mindset, the easier it is to make good choices in our lives. Building a healthy mindset also allows us the ability to be calm in times of stress. It allows us to pause and take an extra moment in times of upset and to be less reactive and emotional in tense situations. A healthy mindset gives us the ability to accept and move past negative thoughts as opposed to dwelling on them until they become overwhelming. Simply put, a healthy mindset provides us with confidence. It allows us to trust the choices we make in life and making good life choices provides us with an inner peace and calm giving us a life free of drama. This is a life that brings joy and happiness.
THE DIMPLE EFFECT
Not only is smiling contagious, but it can make us feel better. When we smile, our bodies get a mood boost as cortisol and endorphins are released. This reduces blood pressure, pain, and stress while increasing our endurance and strengthening our immune system. The hormones not only improve our mood but make us feel happier. Crack a smile, show your dimples if you have them, and spread the happiness!
ACHIEVE YOUR GOALS
When you have a strong, healthy mind, you give yourself the opportunity to achieve your goals and aspirations. A healthy, strong mind allows you to create a plan, provides you with the patience to complete the tasks one by one, and gives you the continued motivation to move forward until you reach the goal. Taking the time to set the next goal for ourselves so we can continue to move forward in life is healthy. Let the ideas flow and allow yourself to be creative. Once you begin to increase your thinking and have your ideas, you’ll then want to follow-through and take action so you can get to the next level. Stay focused and in your creating mode. Elevating your mind is taking your mindset to another level. It’s allowing yourself to think outside the box. Think about which road will lead you to the goal. Maybe you see more than one road right away. Put it down on paper or write it in the notes of your phone. Tape it to your bathroom mirror. The only way to go is one step at a time and the easiest way is by following the map you create to get to your destination.
Our mind only knows the limits we create. We can choose our thoughts. We can create a mindset our bodies will not only love us for but one that will assist us in taking greater care of ourselves, both inside and out. Elevate your mind. Elevate your life.
