The Pandemic changed our lives overnight. The unemployment rate has skyrocketed, leaving us feeling anxious & uncertain. No matter our backgrounds, we’ve all been touched by COVID-19. We’ve had to quickly adapt to new routines, isolation & masks. As stay-at-home orders begin to relax, we continue to adapt to our new reality. We can’t control the world around us, but we can control our reaction. Rather than focus on where we’ve been, why not focus on where we can now go? For some, the future is suddenly open, allowing for a fresh start & new beginning. If you felt stuck in the life you didn’t want, it’s time to look ahead & work toward getting the life you want & deserve.
WHAT’S THE GOAL
When I start a project, I ask myself “What’s the goal?” The question seems to work for just about everything. It reminds me of where I’m heading before I begin. If I don’t, I might run around in circles. Clarify your goal & you can navigate your way there.
PLAN
It’s always easier to find where you’re going when you have directions. Setting up a plan of action will help keep you moving forward. Research the steps you’ll need to take to reach your goal & set realistic timeframes to complete each step. Find out what tools you’ll need &, if you don’t have them already, how you can get them. A step-by-step plan will be less overwhelming. Plot a realistic course, you’re likely to follow it.
STAY FOCUSED
If you’re like me, you have a bunch of ideas floating around in your head & your to-do list is huge. Personally, I can find distraction in just about anything. When I have a goal, I come up with a plan of action to keep me focused. Sometimes, I find focus with a deadline. Other times, it might be found in a photo or in the promise of rewarding myself when I complete a task. Keeping your head in the game will lead you to the finish line & every task you check off, will leave you feeling accomplished.
STAY POSITIVE
Reaching your goal will take time & hard work. Staying positive will allow you to overcome any obstacles thrown in front of you. It will help you to adapt when necessary & allow you to get back up when you fall. As you work toward the goal, you’ll begin to see the goal. Eventually, you’ll get close enough to reach out & grab it.
At the end of the day, we get out of life what we put into it. Being sheltered-in-place has humbled each one of us. If you weren’t happy where you were, you can change your direction & change your life. If you suddenly find yourself unemployed, the decision’s been made for you. Rather than dwell on the negative, try changing your perspective to one that’s positive. Design the life you always wanted. Create your life.
